Do you use Gmail combined with an iPhone or any Apple products? Well, Google has made it much easier to sync your Google contacts with iCloud now by simply adding another account known as a CardDAV account.  Follow these simple steps to add the account and your contacts will show up in your Contact list and sync with your iCloud contacts.

  • Open the Settings application on your Apple device.

  • Select Mail, Contacts, Calendars.

  • Select Add Account.

  • Select Other.

  • Select Add CardDAV Account

  • Fill out your Google account information for the following fields:

    Username: Gmail address

Password: Gmail password (Those of you who have 2-step authentication enabled will need to first generate an application specific password)

    Description: Google Contacts

  • Select Next at the top of the screen.

  • Check to make sure the Contacts option is turned On.

Upon completion of the aforementioned steps, open up your Contacts application and check to make sure your contacts have synced.  It may take a few hours for your contacts to show up in iCloud.
